Two questions: iTunes &DV Camcorder ext Mic

My two questions for today's list

iTunes visualizer      Can you use an outside audio source to triger
the visualizer...   like at a concert LCD projected to a screen for a light
show  ?

I have a Sony DV camcorder that has XLR input,  what brand of microphone
would be the
best to record music in a large theater environment ?

Thanks for any help today, because I have a shoot tomorrow and need these
issues cleared up
with my staff here
