It is possible to get the file structure wrong,( name 
folder/VideoTSFolder/various mysterious "VOB" files) It is possible that 
the content would fare better on a different brand or type of media, 
there being as we have discussed, at least 4 types of recordable DVD 
going around.
I recently have seen the same content made on the same machine , play 
easily with one brand of disc but give the "no disc" message with 
another. This DVD stuff can get tricky.
But someone with a superdrive and toast could maybe fix it.
