[MacDV] FCE not exporting

Question: Final Cut Express has suddenly stopped exporting (i.e., into
Quicktime).
Formerly, when I exported a file into Quicktime, FCE showed me that it was
processing audio and video files.
Now it doesn't show anything and then of course when I go into iDVD to look
for the movie, the file is not there.
I have trashed preferences and restarted...and renamed document...am at a
loss. Any clues?
