Hope I understand your problem.
My guess would be a setting for the JVC vcr. I have an earlier unit
and when going from the computer to the tape-monitor I need to set
the JVC to expect input from the front (F-1) or back (L-1) firewire
port. If this is set wrong, I do not get anything to either the tape
or monitor.
