Not only is playback sometimes not compatible but strange things can occur. Just this morning I got a call that distressed me. I make master DVD+RW's and send them back to be made into DVD-R's and DVD+R's and copied to tape etc. On a phillips standalone. Now I am told that when my discs are played on a Panasonic standalone recorder, the date and time appear in the lower left , and no one can turn it off. Basic incompatability. Very Basic Jim
