Goto b&hphotovideo.com and look for Italian-made Manfroto (sturdy, heavy)
or French-made Gitzo (composite aluminum and carbon fiber). For portability
nothing comes close to Gitzo. I use their 1.0 kg (2.2 lbs.) #1026 which is
sturdy enough to support videocams or a Hasselblad with appropriate
panheads, and doesn't weigh me down on long treks.
