Export From iMovie 3.0

Using iMovie 3, I imported some footage from my new Pana DV953.  While 
editing the footage into a 3 minute movie on my G4/1.2G/Dual 500Mhz 
machine suddenly I wasn't able to 'Play through' to my new Pana DV953.  
The picture exists as a still image, but whenever I press 'Play' the 
image stutters and alternately goes back and forth from momentary movie 
to black.  (Both sound and image are affected, simultaneously.)  When I 
press 'Stop' the image is once again, clear.  I've re-booted a couple 
of times and tried different FW cables, but no difference.  I also 
switched to my old Canon ZR and got the same negative results.  So I 
sent the small 3 minute movie via ethernet to my iBook, connected the 
camera to FW and it plays beautifully in iM3, no problems.  Can anyone 
offer advise as to what has happened to cause this problem on my G4?
