I am attempting to archive old family movies taken back in the 1940's through the 50's. I have taken some film in to have it transferred to VHS, however that option is costly (about $1.50 per minute of video). I am looking for a cost effective, as well as flicker-free way to project the film from my projector onto a screen, wall, etc and then set up my Sony Digital 8 camcorder to record the projection. The final outcome will be iMovie and then iDVD. So far I have been somewhat successful in recording the projection but it has been a battle constantly adjusting the speed of the projector to assure a flicker-free recording. Short of having the film professionally duplicated, has anyone else had successes that they would be willing to share? Any secrets I could try?
