But I have to say that this happened with a Sony Hi-8 as well. I have no idea whether this is something you can expect to happen after using any camera for a few years. In both cases, the tapes were new. The Hi-8 had been used straight through to record audio at a meeting where I was responsible for the minutes. With the DV, I was stopping and starting the tape, though a major portion was run straight through.
