The 50 is a PCI card that you screw into a slot and plug the video cables right into it on the computer. Your eliminating the ADVC box and going straight into the computer.  However, the 50 does not let you export video back to a VCR.  I export to my firewire camera or burn to DVD.
One of my clients did want a VHS, so I burned the DVD and played it in my DVD player with a VCR hooked up and recording.
