The Canon / external Firewire issue that was discussed involved a Blue & White G3 Mac where the 2 firewire devices were connected directly to the computer FW ports. The issue disappeared when the camera was daisy chained into the drive instead. I was unable to duplicate the problem at the time, but later had a capture issue from a canopus box to external firewire. It was solved in the same way. I just plugged the capture box into the FW port on the drive. This doesn't really make sense that it matters, but that is my experience.
