iMovie and problems with importing stills

Help!! Help!!


I have iMovie 4 on my Powerbook 867 12-inch and on my iMac 800Mhz 
superdrive model. I am running Panther (10.3.4)

I just noticed after working on a movie for many hours that my 640 x 
480 72dpi photos are being cropped. I have been using my PowerBook for 
this project. The problem became apparent to me when I scanned in some 
school composite shots (one class photo with the mini photos of each 
student). It was cutting off the students on the right, on the left, on 
the top and on the bottom. In addition to the sides all being cut off, 
it also appears that the photos are not centered on the screen (both in 
playback and in the edit mode as well as on digital video tape).


However, I just tried importing photos into iMovie 4 on my iMac and I 
didn't have a problem??!!!??!!!


on the Powerbook I tried making the photos smaller than 640 x 480 even 
going to 320 x 240 but it scales them up (which I would have guessed it 
might) but it still cuts off the edges!


So, what is wrong here??? What is the fix here?

I am fearing I need to start the project over on the iMac. I never had 
this problem before - or I didn't notice it.


should I trash the preferences file.?

What should I do?
