[MacDV] Hollywood Dazzle import problem

I am using a Hollywood - D V bridge dazzle device to  convert / import/
/video from my analog VHS.

When I import directly into it either imovie or final cut pro, there is
always a line or 2 of digital garbage usually at the bottom of the video
image.

 I have adjusted the tracking on the VHS player and even tried various tapes
and another VHS player -  but no matter what I do it is always still there.

Since I would like to keep the  Content stored as QuickTime movies - I would
like to get rid of this digital garbage on the QuickTime  movie.

Question: why is this happening? Is there any way to get rid of this digital
garbage before I import?
