[MacDV] iDVD & Background Encoding

I'm using iDVD 4 and really miss being able to do background encoding 
when using the "Best Quality" setting. Are there any tricks to getting 
iDVD to do the encoding without tying up the optical drive with a blank 
DVD?

Sounds like maybe I'm due for an upgrade to iLife 05, which allows 
archiving projects as Disc Images that are already encoded, but I was 
hoping for a short term fix using iDVD 4 if available.
