[MacDV] MPEG won't open

The wife has a home movie of her newest grandchild, taken by
her son, copied to a CD-ROM and mailed to her.

Get info says it is an "MPEG Movie", 43.8 MB. Nothing I have
tried will open it: not QuickTime Player (I have QT Pro),
not Windows Media Player (her son has a Wintel), not
RealPlayer 10, not GraphicConverter (I was getting desperate
by this time).

I'm afraid that the video of the newborn was shot on one of
those DVD cameras, and that may be the problem.

But if anyone has the solution, I'd certainly welcome it.
You can be sure that I would be a hero.
