HDV is a compressed format, ie. MPEG2. QT will do it.
It will playback just like you playback SD (Standard Def) as long as your
computer and drives are up to it.

Apple has raised the minimum requirements for a machine to run FCExpress,
and probably iMovie as well.

Faster processor, more RAM needed than before (These are the Minimum
Requirements to run it)
