TWo different things there. Playing out the  firewire has nothing to do 
with the share command which is just export with  a friendly name.
  Couldn't you just wait for everything to render and then
"play out to camera"
iMovie is made to play the full DV quality back out the  firewire to a 
camera deck or DVD recorder, and unless yours is completely 
unrecognized,
It seems like one step too many.
