Lacie brand hard drives and burners are excellent and guaranteed to 
work with your Mac system as long as the system is reasonably current: 
ie: OS not older than 2 years, machine not older than 3-4 years.  We 
have an 6+ year old Lacie CD burner that still works.

Right now our Director Allex Michael is considering purchasing a Lacie 
800GB or Terabyte model, due to it's competitive price.  However, we 
can buy a Seagate hard drive with a 5 year warranty and stick it in an 
enclosure (1 year warranty) for less than the price on most Lacie's.  
That way we still have a 5 year warranty on the hard drive.  Of course 
there's more risk this way ie: compatibility issues etc vs Lacie's good 
service.  But we prefer to have the longer warranty.
