-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 It is the responsibility of the seller to wipe the HD before the sale, so I wouldn't worry much, especially if you plan to buy new versions of the software anyway. If it is software that came installed on the Mac when it was new, it should be on the Software Restore disks, - and I hope you did get those disks with your purchase - that software is clearly yours to use. Manuals may be available on the web, along with helpful how-to web sites. Bookstores carry many titles to supplement or even replace the manuals - this is a big business. Getting one of these books can be well worth the money, search the web for reviews to see what might best suit your needs. I've found that if you have access to the education discounts on Apple software, these can be great deals. In the old days of OS 9 and before, you could have a really bad crash that required a clean install of the system and other software, which made the extra hassle of reinstalling software and then the upgrade another irritation in an already miserable situation. With OS X, these problems are largely gone - so getting older software with the upgrade included shouldn't be a problem, if from a reputable dealer.
