If you don't have it already

To do this conversion, you'll also have to get -- if you don't have it already -- Apple's QuickTime MPEG-2 Playback component. Apple sells it online as a $20 download.

Also, to minimize the loss due to multiple compressions and decompressions, you should probably do the original transfer to DVD at as high a quality as possible -- certainly nothing worse than SP (2-hour) mode.
