[MacDV] Sony HDV Camcorder

In purchasing a HDR-HC3 Sony Camcorder recently I was hoping I could  
pass analogue signals into the camera from my VCR with it being  
output as a
digital signal and bypassing the tape mechanism .   It seems earlier  
Sony  DV  camcorders could do this.

I am unable too find too much info. on the Sony web site.

Could someone confirm I am unable to pass  analogue signals through  
the camera which are, in turn,  output as DV please?
