-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 A friend of a friend who is a surgeon called seeking advice. He has DV of surgical procedures and he is trying to decide which method of compression would best suit his needs. These procedures can be between one and two hours long, usually closer to one hour. The software he is using is Final Cut Studio, so he has the Compressor software that comes with that package. What he wants is a compression scheme that does not lose clarity and important visual information but still comes in under two terabytes (his words, not mine!) in size. I told him that keeping the frame rate at the original 29.997 of the original DV, and that the Sorenson codecs are pretty much the best. For small file sizes, the .mp4 codec is probably very good as well. I told him I would check with the experts to see if anyone has more specific advice to help him with these projects. BTW - he's working w a MDD Dual 1.25 G4, so the compressions get to run overnight. This is probably a good reason to ask for advice, it's bound to be quicker than trial and error, not to mention the amount of disk space a project like this could chew up :-) Regards, Granville Kennedy. -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: PGP Desktop 9.0.3 (Build 2932) iQA/AwUBReiSLFLszf0/NU4NEQLVcACeLBQyI83YrVZNyQ7718kZP6T28NUAoPpM 0+UWSzjRmGHHmQsJuFXq2XsI =y8kp -----END PGP SIGNATURE-----
