Are you working in HDV? Do your sequence settings match your video codec? You wouldn't get red render bars if your system was able to process in realtime, but you still need to render out before outputting. Because you say that you got a red render bar when adding a simple text over video, which your system should easily be able to process in real time, I'm thinking there is some mismatch between sequence settings and source codec. Go to Sequence>Render ALL ( and make sure FULL is turned ON) and then press Opt R What happens? Rendering taking place? Also, how are your drives formatted? You are not, by chance, using an external that is formatted as FAT32? (sometimes people buy externals and don't reformat for Mac before starting to use them) Mixing down the audio is the final step before output. It's under the Sequence>Render Only>Mixdown (or CMD OPT R) This creates a small single audio file for outputting. hth, sb On Aug 3, 2008, at 4:21 AM, Conlon Brett wrote: > Hi sb, > > Just to clarify, if there are no red lines above the timeline then > there's nothing needing rendering, right? > > This job only used very simple edits and fades.
