You know, I've been trying all sorts of MP4 settings and saving files for assessing quality and I'm not quite getting the results I'd like. The original folder containing the fragmented video files is 8GB. If I apply image quality settings of 50% (the default value) for a 2 hr movie I get a nice and small file at 2GB, but pixilation artefacts can be seen. If I increase the quality setting to 100% I get a larger result than the original at 12GB, and the footage maybe as clean as the original. This leads me to think... what if I just want to join the segments and leave the footage exactly how it is? I don't want to re-encode it, up or downsize the resolution. The format that it was recorded in was probably MPEG in the first place. How can I just merge the bits into one file and save it so the end result is an unchanged 8GB single file? Is it possible? The original footage was 16:9 and reports in MPEG Streamclip as being 720X576. All of the Frame Size setting options report that a scaler will be used for scaling (it, it need to resize the image), except for the "720 x 576 (unscaled)" and "720 x 576 (DV-PAL)" options but I don't see an anamorphic button or a 16:9 option. When I finished exporting the footage it plays on the computer as squashed 4:3 but luckily it plays on the TV as 16:9. > > Anyone know what setting can be ticked to keep the 16:9 anamorphic ratio so it plays on the computer as 16:9? I was hoping QuickTime Pro 7 (the only QT Pro I've paid for) would have a tickbox in the properties window but it doesn't. Any other suggestions? > > My next challenge is to see how my own STB (Topfield Masterpiece) handles network connections and how the video files are configured (one or many) and I'm sure I'll have to revisit MPEG-Streamclip again! > > Ta muchly! > > Cojcolds > _______________________________________________ > MacDV mailing list > MacDV at listserver.themacintoshguy.com > http://listserver.themacintoshguy.com/mailman/listinfo/macdv
