Yes, both boxes did say that the drives would have to be reformatted to work with Mac OS. So the requirements about Mac OS versions are, as I suspected, a concern only for using software that accompanies the drive? If I do buy a terabyte HD, I plan to get one that has both USB 2.0 and FireWire, because my desktop Mac doesn't have USB 2.0. Patty
