[MacDV] Final Cut Pro X

I have a friend who can't import movies from his new Sony NEX-VG10  HD camcorder into his Mac Pro  which has Lion 10.7.1  and Final Cut Pro X installed. He has also tried Image Capture (Version 6.1) (440), but to no avail.    His software is up to date. 

I have the same computer/software setup as him and I have had  no trouble importing data from my older Sony HDR-HC3 tape-based camera.

Any suggestions as to how he can fix his problem please?
