</blockquote><div><br></div><div>Over the last six years or so, I've stored a lot of old videos and still photos burned onto CD-R and data DVD. The blanks came from several manufacturers - some bargains and some from well respected names. I have a Mac Mini that's probably five years old and an Intel MacBook that's maybe three years old.</div><div><br></div><div>A few months ago, I tried to retrieve some of these old files. The DVD drive in the newer MacBook is making lots of noise and only occasionally will read ANY CD or DVD. The Mac Mini either spits out most burned CDs and DVDs with no message, or tells me I've inserted a blank CD. But the Mac Mini will still read commercial DVDs such as movies.</div><div><br></div><div>So - is it more likely that I've reached the end of the shelf life on all my CDs and DVDs at the same time? Or have both of my DVD drives gone bad at the same time? Anyone have similar problems?</div><div><br></div><div>Thanks,</div><div>Steve R.</div></body>
