Desktop Games

	What are some good small games that i can play right on the desktop, 
so's i can amuse myself while monitoring the downloads window?

	P. S.  Was there never on the Mac a game like X-Com, where the player 
defends Earth against UFOs??  I'm not even sure what category it would 
be in, as it blended aspects of strategy [building bases], real-time 
action [air-to-air combat], and turn-based RPG [elite adventurers 
searching for bug-eyed monsters in isometric terrain].
