Net Mix

Anyone using Net Mix? Is it as simple as running it off a big firewire 
drive connected
to my studio computer, (and maybe pull stuff off as needed over the 
LAN) or do I need to get into SQL and such?
I'm envisioning dumping all my SFX CD's (about 100 at last count), Lots 
of music, samples,
and frequently used environment beds to the disk, and have it all 
available as needed.
Simple as that?
Is there something else better (or cheaper?)
