Sound Studio Dual G5 Problem

I have been trying to run the latest version of Sound Studio 2.1.1 on a dual
G5, OS X 10.3.4 but while the program runs, the playback button is greyed
out and cannot be used.  The spacebar, which will run the play button, does
not work either.  I have emailed this bug to the Felttip web site, alerting
the programmers, but so far no response.  It's been over 6 months. Lucius is
usually very responsive.

Has anyone else had this problem...and perhaps suggest a work around?
