Powerbook USB Cards and Thumb Drives

Hi.  An easy newbie question (I hope):

I'd like to use a USB thumb drive (specifically, a
SanDisk Cruzer Mini) with a WallStreet G3 powerbook. 
I'm concerned that the cardbus may not provide enough
power (although some products do advertise themselves
as providing bus power).  I'd rather not use an AC
adaptor (sort of defeats the purpose of having a
laptop).  Has anyone tried this, and can you recommend
a good USB card for the purpose?
