I will also add my two cents.  I have been using viavoice since 2000. 
I was frustrated with the quality of the headsets that came with 
viavoice--both the analog one and the later USB one.   The quality 
went from fair/good to excellent when I switched to an iparrot 
multimedia headset (this is a stereo headset too, and only costs 
around $35).  Since I have an earlier G4 I don't need to use a USB 
converter.
