All: First, transcription into iListen is possible without a supported device. You can hook up any audio device and transcribe directly into iListen. As long as that device is hooked up and can be configured as an audio input device, iListen won't know the difference. Granted, you will not be using iListen's special transcription features if you do it this way, but it IS possible. (And I STRONGLY suggest you not try to transcribe from a tape recorder - tape hiss renders speech virtually unusable for transcription through software.) But transcription from a device without spending time reading the training stories into the device and then playing them back to create a separate profile will make typing seem easier to most people. Also, something that has not been mentioned in this recent thread: you absolutely MUST speak the punctuation in order to get any kind of reasonable accuracy whatsoever. To summarize, it what you want to do is dictate into a recording device and then play it back into iListen later to translate into written words, iListen might work well for you - as long as you don't mind spending a few minutes manually correcting the text AND you previously created a special profile with your voice reading the training stories from recordings made on the device AND you remember to speak all the punctuation when dictating into the device. On the other hand, if what you want to do is interview someone and then use iListen to transcribe the interview later, this will absolutely NOT work, no matter what device you are using.
