Tara: We have many users who have switched over from ViaVoice who claim our recognition is as good or better than ViaVoice. Like estimated miles per gallon, each user's experience will be unique. There are those who will find ViaVoice is more accurate in rendering their individual voice, while others will find iListen better. This is because the two programs were developed using entirely different base voice models. (The closer your voice is to a base voice model, the more accurate - and the less training you will have to do.) Unfortunately, the only way to find out is to try it yourself. I can tell you this: iListen continues to be improved while ViaVoice has not been updated in some time. In fact, IBM stopped developing speech programs for both the Windows and Mac OS X consumer markets last year and ceded all their sales and distribution activities to Scansoft (the same people that own Dragon). There are many distinct advantages iListen has over ViaVoice, but perhaps the most important is the ability to dictate and correct in virtually any application. ViaVoice has limited ability to dictate in other applications, and when you do, you cannot employ correction (you must use their SpeakPad and then cut and paste if you want to employ correction). Regarding Dragon, most people who have used it still consider it more accurate than either iListen or ViaVoice, but it is not available on the Macintosh. So most Mac users will find iListen to be their best choice. You can read some of the testimonials about iListen at <http://www.macspeech.com/news/testimonials.html>.
