[MV] IBM ViaVoice 3 Having Problems In Tiger

I just upgraded from Panther 10.3.9 to Tiger 10.4.6

Now, I am having problems loading the VoiceCenter application. When I open
it in the Finder, it says that the microphone is being used exclusively by
another application, but...

- Fresh boot
- no other applications running
- mike tested and working fine ( I am able to record clear voice in another
program for testing)
- repaired permissions and other things like that...

-  I even tried turning on and off some processes in the activity monitor
... But not working yet.

Question: has anybody gotten their ViaVoice working in Tiger 10.4.6? Any
ideas what I can do to fix this?
