Also Scribe just produces text output that you have to cut and paste into another document. Dictate opens an application and dictates directly into it. You can also control the Macintosh with Dictate. And to makes things confusing, you can use Dictate to correct the output from Scribe I presume.
The difference between the two programs is fairly simple:

- Dictate does live dictation. It cannot easily transcribe from an audio file. The advantage of live dictation is that you can correct as you go, rather than having to go over an entire transcription from start to finish after it has been rendered from the audio file to text.

- Scribe only works with audio files. So if you are comfortable always recording what will eventually end up as text, then running it through Scribe's transcription process, you are good to go.

I think you will find the process of live dictation using Dictate is a bit quicker than the transcription process in Scribe due to having to correct after the fact. Also, in theory at least, transcription from an audio file will probably be a little less accurate.
Don't i get the advantage of a permanent audio record of the text? Or does dictate keep an audio record for correcting and verification? Because it seems to me scribe would be better for editing later with an audio recording being available. Again, as I am new to this process, please feel free to school me on what I am missing here.
