In the end I picked up a Dazzle Hollywood and am very pleased with it. It works well with iMovie (apart from a couple of very minor wrinkles). I've now put together my first "movie" from material on analogue Hi-8 tape and am now looking at mastering VCD's that I can send out to friends and family back in the old country. I've also now joined a sister list: <http://www.themacintoshguy.com/lists/MacDV.html> which is proving to be a useful source of tips and advice on all matters relating to Mac and digital video. Thanks all, Ingmar --
