The best stuff for the screen is iClean. You can get a kit with moist and
dry towlettes or a spray can of the cleaner alone. Great stuff for all
surfaces.

If you want to mute the startup chime, just insert a dummy plug into the
audio output jack (a plug with nothing on the other end).
