What you want to do is try to limit drive access. hard to do when using read/write intensive audio and graphics applications, so it is important to limit background processes. I use firewire that is self sufficient as far as power, and when I'm on battery power I don't use my normal external monitor or USB keyboard and mouse...strictly internal Powerbook things then. You should ask others about the benefits of using a self-powered ecternal drive for audio. I do, and it works great. ~flipper
