>Monday my TiBook enters weeks three of what should have been a simple swap >of a logic board. For one week, as of tomorrow, the word on Apple Care site >has been "on hold awaiting parts". How is your service being handled? Directly through Apple, or through the place you purchased? For example, as highly as MicroCenter was touted for the place to buy Macs a few weeks ago, it is THE LAST AND WORST place to take a Mac for service. The "on hold waiting for parts" happens quite regularly there. OTOH, a little place called Cincinnati Computer, who was the first and at one time only place to buy a Mac in Cincinnati, is outstanding at Mac authorized service. After 4 weeks of being told the the "on hold waiting parts" story by MicroCenter I demanded the computer back; it took 2 days because they weren't even servicing it there, they had shipped it to Texas. I took it (a Wallstreet, which was new at the time), to Cincinnati Computer and they had it fixed and back to me in two days; since it was under Apple's warranty it was no charge, but they are pretty reasonable in doing non-warranty work as well. Perhaps it is like the Army, where if you go through proper channels it takes weeks to get something, but if you go to the PFC who is really running the show he goes in the back room and comes out with what you want. If you can find someone in your area who has been an authorized service center for Apple since before the super computer stores existed, that is you best bet (let's face it, if they have survived the big super stores, they have to be really, really good). -- <><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><> Mike Bigley Maineville, Ohio http://www.norbertrunning.com Please support an American Indian Elder & Medicine Man by visiting the above link. <><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><>
