"Hacked" PowerBook SuperDrive ????

I just read the page but Im too confuse to try it.

Actually my superdrive writes at
DVD-R > 1X
CD-R > 16X
CD-RW > 4X

The speed of the CD-R burning is wonderfull, but the speed of DVD-R is to bad.

I really appreciate if someone can share his/her experienced about doing this firmware 
upgrade with more detail.
