Black Screen of Death

I recently upgraded my TiBook G4/400mhz to 10.3.1. Since then, when I shut
down (or restart) the machine will power-up, but the display stays black.
The only way to get the screen to appear is to hit the RESET (PMU) button
and reboot.

Any recommendations..?
