how to get rid of Dock

Hi -
I read somewhere a couple weeks ago, about a way of getting rid of 
that pesky Dock, by taking it out of core services.  (I use 
DragThing, and don't need the Dock, but even though I've tried to 
make it invisible, it still tries to sneak onto the screen).
I've found the Dock in my core services folder, but it can't be 
dragged out of this folder.
Any advice on how I do this?
