Buy a 17" which is pretty LARGE and withe the money they save - Buy OS 
X = $129

and since they will not get the full functionality of the 20" under os 
9...  it makes more sense...

what applications do they need to run?  The money they save may leave 
them withe enough money to by some of the needed os x apps...  also 
MANY older os 9 apps WILL run under classic.
