In fact, I just tried again and here's the error message I get: "The device you removed was not properly put away. Data might have been lost or damaged. Before disconnecting a device, you should select its icon in the Finder and choose Eject from the File menu." The icon disappears from both the menu and desktop, so I eject it. I never can tell if data has been "lost or damaged" because I have the option set to delete images from camera when using Image Capture to download the files. It's a Microtech CF+II PC Card Adapter and I plug in a 340 MB IBM Microdrive. -Steve
