Flipper, you are a life-saver like your namesake; once again, thanks...
I will take a look at Optix and will see whether it can help things.  I 
know Randy and his site quite well.  He was a great ally in my early 
days of Mac-hood.  There's also a very fine discussion group on yahoo 
called maclaw, which is a wonderful source of camaraderie and tech 
advice.
