Wireless authentication is one of my areas.... the solution that we (the
University I work for) have come up with is a product by Vernier Networks.
(http://www.verniernetworks.com) It is a captive firewall that provides just
the sort of log-in interface that you are seeking. ON the client PC it
requires nothing more then a web-browser (and I believe there is a way to
hack it to work with a telnet client). A Complete system is in the $4,000
range with enterprise solutions being pricier. It may be overkill depending
on your application. Check out NoCatAuth (http://nocat.net/) for an
open-source alternative that accomplishes the same task, albeit with a bit
more wonking with the software.

Subject: [Ti] OT wireless access

I could not think of a better place to ask this so---

I have a client that i develop a web site for their hotel - he wants to
be the best in our area - I said you need wireless access - so he's
going to do it. His hotel has cable internet- how would you go about
putting access in? buy a Linksys 802.11b base and set it up - use
encryption so only those that have a room would have access to it?

any ideas and input would be appreciated.
