...punctuated by one kernel panic. So, here's what I've figured out so far. My powerbook made a hideous feedback noise when I closed it the other night shortly after changing the energy saver preferences to 'reduced processor speed'. I tried to re-sleep the machine with the key combo cmd-opt-eject, and the screen went dark, but not until I could detect the kernel panic box in the darkness. At work today, I started typing after I woke the machine up from a good, deep sleep (a few hours), and could hear my hand moving over the computer's internal microphone. It was actually playing through the PB's speakers. I'd assume that was the same thing that happened before. I changed the sound input in system preferences to LINE IN, and the mic has been behaving itself for the past few minutes. No more kernel panics. It is a bit of a strange situation, though. Any thoughts? Rick
