I'm guessing that it's a particular region of the hard disk that causes some electromagnetic whine to be generated (DC-DC converter, or hard disk voice coil perhaps ?), but maybe your guess about Airport is closer to the mark. Next time I notice it I'll switch to an Ethernet connection and see if it persists. Paul --
