Cannot Insert CD

I have a Powerbook G4 800 MHz with a slot loading drive.  Yesterday I 
ejected a disk from the CD-RW drive.  It made some funny noises when I did 
that.  I then tried to re-insert another disk in and could not.  The disk 
goes in about halfway and then runs into something.  I have tried several 
different disks including the Apple Hardware Test Disk.  I have tried 
rebooting, taking the battery out for a while and resetting the power 
management unit.  None of these have helped.  Any suggestions?

I am running OS 9.2.2.
